Specific skills	:	1.4.3	Listen to and follow simple directions to places in the neighbouring town.
		2.3.1	Respond to simple questions.
		4.5.3	Construct simple sentences independently by looking at a picture.
		4.8.4	Write simple descriptions with little or no guidance.
Specific Objectives	:		By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
		1.	Write four descriptions of buildings and places based on the pictures and words given.
		2.	Write a letter to a friend using the 4 descriptions given to each picture.

Grammar Focus	:		Present tense, past tense, adjectives, the use of ‘in’ and ‘by’.

Stage			Steps	Remarks
Set Induction ( 3 minutes)	:	1	Teacher asks questions: Where did you go during the Hari Raya Holidays? What did you see / feel / taste there?
Pre-writing ( 12 minutes)	:	1	Teacher plays slides “Kuching, the Cat City”
		2	Teacher asks questions pertaining to the slides. What do you see in the slides? What do you think of Kuching? How would you describe Kuching? Would you like to visit Kuching in the future? Why?
		3	Teacher displays a digital map showing 4 famous buildings in Kuching. Sarawak Museum Kuching Post Office Kuching Court House Kuching Mosque	A digital layout mapped to resemble a tour map.
		4	Teacher leads pupils on a virtual tour with the help of the map. Teacher stops at the famous building icon. Teacher displays related pictures and descriptions. Pupils read the short sentences aloud. Teacher reminds that most sentences are written in the form of past tense, and adjectives are often used in descriptive writings on buildings.	Input on descriptive words, past tense,
	:	1.	Pupils sit in groups of 4.
While writing ( 30 minutes)		2.	In groups, the pupils will be receiving a set of worksheet with 2 pictures, along with the outlines.
		3.	Teacher distributes the worksheets to group leaders.	Appendix B
		4.	Teacher goes through the worksheets with the class for any difficult terms/ words (if any)	Appendix B
			Grammar Focus: Mini Lesson Remind pupils to write their sentences in past tense form for descriptive sentences on buildings. Refresh the use of ‘in’, ‘by’ and adjectives (if needed).
		5	Teacher informs that the pupils will write a passage in pairs,.
		6.	The pupils have their sentences checked by their friends in the same group.
		7	The teacher walks around, observing students’ performance and responses if the need arises.
		8.	Group member help to put the worksheet on the table.
Post writing ( 15 minutes)	:	1.	Teacher gives a situation where every pupil will be writing someone a letter by using all the descriptions in Appendix B.	Appendix C
		2.	Group leaders step up to collect and distribute the worksheets to group members.
		3.	Individually, pupils try to write a letter by referring Appendix B.	Appendix B & C
Closure ( 2 minutes)	:	1	Teacher elicits some interesting places the students found in the texts by asking students to describe them in short sentences.
		2	Teacher reminds the pupils that we should play our part in taking care of the interesting places for others e.g.: take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints etc.
