4.4.2  Complete simple instructions and directions, descriptions, rhymes, notices , stories with the missing words.            
Lesson Objectives :
By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
1)      Complete the sentences given in the cards while playing a game.
2)      Complete the life cycle of a butterfly.

A Video clip:
The Caterpillar

1. Teacher shows part of a video clip about a caterpillar and asks pupils whether they remember the story about ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’.
    ( Refer to Video 1 )
2. Teacher asks  some questions  verbally  about the story.


To revise the story  taught earlier by the teacher


Activity 1
(10 minutes )











The story:

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

1.  Teacher distributes a text of the story to each pupil.

2.  Teacher asks pupils to read silently the text given.
    
3.  Teacher asks pupils to
identify the types of food and days of the week found in the text .

4.  Pupils are then required to scan for specific information by answering some questions  referring to the text read.
    
5.      Teacher discusses the answers given with pupils.

Activity 2
(25 minutes)













Board Game
( Snakes & Ladders )


1. Teacher  divides  pupils into groups of five with a leader in each group.

2. Teacher distributes a board game to each group and explains the rules and regulations in carrying out the game. (Refer to Appendix 1 )

3. Each pupil is required to throw the dice once and moves according to the number shown on the dice.

4. Once the pupil stops at the box with ‘a symbol’ which means ‘ Select a card ‘ , he/ she will have to take a card and answer the question given. ( Refer to Appendix 2 )

5.  The group leader checks the answer given and gives points to the correct answer.

6.      The winner will be the pupil with the most points won
In each group.

Activity 3
(15 minutes )











The life cycle of a
butterfly

1.  Teacher shows a video clip about the life cycle of a butterfly. (Refer to Video 1 )

2.  Teacher  distributes Worksheet 1 to pupils .

3.  Teacher asks pupils to complete the life cycle of a butterfly  given on the worksheet.


4.  Pupils complete the task given individually and teacher goes around and assists the pupils.

5.      Teacher discusses the answers given with pupils.

Closure
( 5 minutes )







Moral value :
Not to be greedy, eating healthy food

Life cycle of other insects

1 Teacher talks about the moral values of the story with pupils.

2.Teacher encourages pupils to search the internet for the life cycle of other insects.

3.Pupils are encouraged to bring their findings for the next lesson for further activities.
