Unit Evaluation | |
1. Teacher and pupils brainstorm ideas on the places in Kuching and local food. 2. Teacher provides pupils with evaluation rubrics on their project and discusses it with them. 3. Teacher checks pupils’ products to check on their progress. Pupils and teacher brainstorm for more historical buildings in Kuching. Pupils use the checklist to check their progress in the project. Pupils also use the evaluation rubrics to help them. 4. Pupils showcase their projects to the Travel Agencies. Teacher and the other pupils use the evaluation rubric to guide their project work. | |

As Miss Kuching 2000, you plan to attract Travel Agencies from Penisular Malaysia to promote Kuching as a new tourist attraction to both local and foreign tourists. Grasp Model Goal: To help promote Kuching as a new tourist attraction to both local and foreign tourists. Role: Miss Kuching 2000 Audience: Travel Agencies from Penisular Malaysia Set of Activities: 1. A guided city tour around Kuching. 2. Introducing local delicacies Products: 1. A video documentary on the historical building in Kuching 2. A campaign poster on the local delicacies through a web quest | |
Instructional Procedures | |
Lesson 1 1. Teacher asks pupils about the places they have been to during the school holidays. 2. Pupils share their experiences about their visits during the holidays. 3. Teacher shows pictures on some historical building in Kuching and discusses their importance and value to the students. Take home task: Pupils borrow books from the library and visit websites to read on the history of Kuching. Lesson 2 1. Teacher asks question to students based on the readings. 2. Students find resources from the Internet and save them in folders 3. Teacher shows students how to use Movie Maker. Take home task: 1. Pupils complete the documentary. Lesson 3 1. Pupils make final preparation for their documentaries. Take home task: Pupils search and read about local delicacies from the Internet. Lesson 4 1. Teacher shows pupils a web quest on the class blog (Teacher opens a class blog and designs a web quest before this lesson.) 2. Pupils read the Introduction, Tasks and Process (es) to complete the task. 3. Teacher reminds pupils to use the web site links provided to obtain information on Kuching delicacies. 4. Pupils read and select information from the given web sites which are relevant to their task. 5. Teacher reminds pupils to keep the information for Lesson 5.
